Wednesday the 16th one of the most important pieces of legislation for people with disabilities will have their first day of hearings.
The Community Choice Act formerly known as MiCasa and Money Follows the People - gives individuals control of the money that is spent to help them live quality lives - not the nursing home lobby.
Community Choice Act Hearing Scheduled for NEXT WEDNESDAY!
The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing (”Helping Families with Needed Care: Medicaid’s Critical Role for Americans with Disabilities”) on the Community Choice Act (H.R. 1621, S.799) and related issues next Wednesday, January 16, at 10:00 AM in Room 2123 Rayburn House Office Building.

Advocates are encouraged to attend in person to show support through numbers. The accessible entrance to the building is the main entrance with the horseshoe drive off South Capitol Street.
2) Encourage Subcommittee members to attend! View a list of the Subcommittee members.
Please contact members of the Subcommittee or call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-1904 (V) / (202) 224-3091 (TTY) and ask to be connected to their offices by name. Urge the members to attend this hearing. Tell them the topic of the hearing is of vital importance to the independence, community integration, and equality of hundreds of thousands of Americans with disabilities.
